## How it works

Zeptap is a Mac app that gives your agent your real iPhone, so it posts in the apps instead of through an API.

1. **Plug in your iPhone.** Zeptap connects it to your Mac. Nothing is installed on the phone.
2. **Ask your agent:** “Post this to X and my Instagram Story.” Use Zeptap’s chat, OpenClaw or [any agent you connect](https://zeptap.com/docs/agents/connect).
3. **It opens the app** on the right account, picks your media and writes the post, link or sticker.
4. **It can show you the preview first,** then posts and reports back with the link.

## X (Twitter) API pricing and Instagram API costs (October 2026)

As of October 2026, X charges $0.015 per post created through its API and $0.20 for a post with a link ([X API pricing](https://docs.x.com/x-api/getting-started/pricing)). Instagram’s API doesn’t charge per post, but it’s gated.

* **At 5 accounts, prices are close:** Zernio $18, Upload-Post $16, Postiz $23–29 a month, against Zeptap’s $25.
* **At 20–30 accounts, the cheap tools stay cheap:** Blotato is $29 a month for 20 accounts, Upload-Post $33 for up to 25 profiles. Zernio comes to $78–108.
* **Zeptap Lifetime Plus is one $149 payment** for up to five iPhones and 20–30 accounts. Against Upload-Post’s $33 a month, it pays for itself in about 5 months.
* **The bigger difference is what they can’t post:** personal Instagram accounts and Stories with music and stickers. They also need a developer app or API approval behind them.

## When the API is the better choice

Use an API to post thousands of times, from a server, on a timer; Zeptap has no built-in scheduler.

* **Platform rules apply; following them is your responsibility.** X’s [automation rules](https://help.x.com/en/rules-and-policies/x-automation) (April 2026) name non-API automation as grounds for suspension. Instagram’s [Terms](https://help.instagram.com/581066165581870) limit automated access. Use X’s API for bulk or unattended X posts.
* **A few X posts cost less on the API.** Even 90 link posts cost $18, under Zeptap’s $25 a month; $99 once equals about 495 link posts.

## How to start

Setup takes a few minutes.

1. **[Download Zeptap](https://github.com/Saransh29/zeptap-releases/releases/latest/download/Zeptap.dmg)** for your Mac (macOS 14 or later).
2. **Plug in your iPhone and pair it.** Any iPhone on iOS 15 or later works.
3. **Ask your agent** in Zeptap’s chat (⌘L) on your Claude or ChatGPT plan, or connect your own in **Settings › Connectors**.

How expensive is the X (Twitter) API? Is it free?

The X API costs $0.015 per post and $0.20 per post with a link, as of October 2026, with no free tier for new developers. You prepay credits; X adds $20 when you save your first card. Reads are billed separately.

Is the Instagram Graph API free, and does it work with personal accounts?

Meta doesn’t charge per call, but the Instagram API only works with business or creator accounts. Apps serving accounts you don’t manage also need App Review. With Zeptap, your agent posts in the Instagram app itself, so personal accounts work too.

How does Zeptap compare with Ayrshare, Blotato or Zernio?

Ayrshare, Blotato and Zernio are posting APIs with MCP servers, billed monthly: $149 a profile, $29 for 20 accounts, $6 an account. Zeptap is one license that posts in the real apps.

Can my AI agent post to X without the API? Will my account get banned?

An AI agent can post to X from the X app on your iPhone through Zeptap, with no API key. Zeptap can’t promise accounts won’t be restricted: X’s rules name non-API automation, and following them is your responsibility.

Can Zeptap post on a schedule?

Zeptap has no built-in scheduler; your agent posts when you ask, within minutes. Your own automation can call it too, but use X’s API for unattended X posts.

How much does Zeptap cost, and which iPhones work?
