zeptap vs mobile-mcp.

Both give your agent a phone over MCP. On a real iPhone, mobile-mcp needs a signed WebDriverAgent and Developer Mode. Zeptap needs a USB cable and Bluetooth.

same idea, no xcode

mobile-mcp is a good MCP server, and on the iOS Simulator it's hard to beat. On a real iPhone it drives the phone through WebDriverAgent, which means Xcode, a developer team to sign it and Developer Mode on the phone, which Apple warns lowers its security. Fine for a test device, less so for the phone with your accounts on it. Zeptap skips all of it: the only step on the phone is Bluetooth pairing.

the phone can lock

If you let it, Zeptap unlocks the iPhone itself. The passcode stays in your Mac's Keychain, agents never see it, and each unlock makes a single attempt so a wrong code can't lock you out. The phone doesn't have to sit awake all day.

tools that settle first

Every Zeptap action returns a screenshot taken once the screen stops moving, so the agent isn't reasoning about half an animation. tap_text and find_text read labels with on-device OCR, which works in apps that expose little to accessibility.

tap_text("Messages")find_text()type_text("on my way")

one click into your agent

Settings has one-click connectors for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor, Hermes and OpenClaw. There's also a built-in chat that runs Claude Code or Codex on your own subscription, so you can hand off a task without opening a terminal.

when mobile-mcp is the better pick.

If you work mostly on the iOS Simulator or Android emulators, already have Xcode and a developer account, or want the accessibility tree rather than screenshots, mobile-mcp is free and does that well. Pick Zeptap when you want a real iPhone with your real apps and accounts and no developer setup.

questions?

The docs go deeper, and they're written for agents to read too.

Is Zeptap open source?+

No. Zeptap is a paid Mac app: $99 once or $25 a month, with the first hour of live use free. One license covers 3 Macs and 3 iPhones.

Does Zeptap work with the iOS Simulator or Android?+

No. Zeptap drives real, physical iPhones only. For simulators and Android emulators, an open-source MCP server like mobile-mcp is the better fit.

Which agents can use Zeptap?+

Anything that speaks MCP. Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor, Hermes and OpenClaw connect in one click, and anything else can point at http://127.0.0.1:47801/mcp.
