Generators frame screenshots. Your agent captures them.
Top-ranking App Store screenshot generators, such as AppScreens, AppLaunchpad and Screenshots Pro, start with the same step: upload your screenshots (checked 14 October 2026). They add frames, captions and backgrounds, so capturing the images is still your job.
| Screenshot generators | fastlane snapshot | Your agent with Zeptap | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where the screens come from | You upload them | UI tests in the Simulator | Your app on your iPhone |
| Setup | Design work | UI test target, Xcode scheme, scripts | Plug in your iPhone and ask |
| New screen or language | Capture it yourself, re-upload | New screen: edit the UI test. New language: add it to the Snapfile | Change one line in your prompt |
| Frames, captions, templates | Yes | With frameit | No, use your design tool |
Use them together: feed the agent’s captures into your generator for frames and captions. The fastlane column follows fastlane’s snapshot documentation.
How it works
You give your AI agent a shot list in plain English; it uses Zeptap to open your app on your iPhone and capture each screen while you watch from your Mac.
Opens your build: the App Store version, a TestFlight build, or the one you just installed from Xcode.
Sets the stage: signs in to your demo account, adds sample data and closes tooltips. Tell it how to handle permission prompts, such as stopping to ask you.
Goes screen by screen: taps to each screen on your list and captures it once it has finished loading.
Repeats the variations: Dark Mode, a larger text size, or each language you switch to in Settings.
Hands them over: returns each capture in your chat or coding-agent session, named by screen, mode and language (for example
03-checkout-dark-es), and tells you anything that looked wrong.
Six screens in Light and Dark Mode across four languages is 48 captures from one prompt, with no tapping or renaming on your part.
Adding Japanese the week before launch takes one more word in the prompt.
Because the agent is really using the app, it notices problems a screenshot tool can’t: a cut-off German label, a placeholder image, an empty state where your best feature should be.
App Store screenshot sizes Apple asks for
Apple accepts up to 10 screenshots per device size, as PNG or JPEG with no transparency. An iPhone app needs a medium Dynamic Island set plus one large set. These are the main iPhone and iPad sizes on Apple’s screenshot specifications, checked 14 October 2026:
| Display class (example phones) | Portrait size (pixels) | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone with Dynamic Island, large (16 Pro Max, 17 Pro Max) | 1320 × 2868, 1290 × 2796 or 1260 × 2736 | One large set required: this or Face ID large |
| iPhone with Dynamic Island, medium (16, 16 Pro, 17) | 1206 × 2622 or 1179 × 2556 | Yes, at least one |
| iPhone with Face ID, large (14 Plus, 13 Pro Max, 11 Pro Max) | 1284 × 2778 or 1242 × 2688 | Required if Dynamic Island large is missing |
| iPad 13” (iPad Pro, iPad Air) | 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 | Yes, if your app runs on iPad |
If your interface looks the same across sizes, App Store Connect scales your largest set down for smaller phones.
Prompts to try
Copy any of these into Zeptap’s chat or your own agent, then swap in your screen names.
Building the app with an agent? Claude Code, Cursor and Codex can drive your iPhone through Zeptap’s MCP server, so the agent that wrote the screen can capture it. More in testing a Claude Code iOS app on a real iPhone.
Capture our 6 App Store screens in Light and Dark Mode, signed in as the demo account, and name each one by screen and mode.
Open our TestFlight build, add three sample workouts so the home screen isn’t empty, then capture home, workout detail and progress.
Capture the onboarding, paywall and settings screens. If a permission prompt appears, skip that screen and tell me which ones you skipped.

Switch our app to Spanish, French and German in Settings › [App] › Language, capture our 5 key screens in each, then switch back to English.
Capture every screen on our shot list, then flag any with cut-off text, placeholder images or debug labels.
Go through the app as a new user, capture the 8 screens that best show what it does, and explain why you picked each.
What stays in your hands
You control the iPhone, the passcode and where your screens go.
Your screen never touches Zeptap’s servers
What’s on screen goes only to the AI provider you chose, under your plan.
Your passcode never leaves your Mac
It’s stored on your Mac, and the agent never sees it.
You watch every tap
Your iPhone’s screen is live on your Mac, and you can stop the agent at any time.
Zeptap installs nothing on the iPhone
No Xcode setup for Zeptap, no paid Apple Developer account, no jailbreak.
Honest limits
Captures show your real status bar. Charge to full first and, for a 9:41 clock, turn off Set Automatically in Settings › General › Date & Time and set the time by hand, or crop the bar in your design tool. Zeptap drives iPhones, so make iPad screenshots another way.
How to start
Setup takes three steps and nothing goes on the iPhone.
Download Zeptap for your Mac (macOS 14 or later).
Plug in your iPhone and pair it. Zeptap walks you through it.
Ask for your screenshots in Zeptap’s chat (⌘L), or connect your own agent through Settings › Connectors.
