Claude Code iOS app testing

Let Claude Code test your app on a real iPhone

Claude Code taps through the iOS app it built on your real iPhone, then fixes what breaks.

  • Tests on your physical iPhone
  • Fixes the code in the same session
  • Nothing to install on the iPhone

First hour free · macOS 14 or later

Install the newest TestFlight build, go through sign-up as a new user and tell me where it breaks.

Your agent · your iPhone testing
Sign-up · TestFlight build 142
  1. Install from TestFlight pass
  2. Onboarding, 3 screens pass
  3. Allow notifications pass
  4. Email and password pass
  5. Continue to your account fail

Step 5 breaks: Continue does nothing after the password screen. Screenshot attached, and the steps to reproduce.

How it works

Claude Code builds and checks your app in the Simulator, then uses Zeptap to test it on your real iPhone.

  1. Connect once. Zeptap on your Mac sees your iPhone’s screen and taps, swipes and types for Claude Code.

  2. Build and iterate in the Simulator, as you do today.

  3. Put the build on your iPhone. Claude Code installs it from TestFlight, or you run it from Xcode.

  4. Test it like a user. Claude Code goes through the flow you describe, such as sign-up or the paywall, reading each screen.

  5. Fix it in the same session. It reports what broke, finds the cause in your repo and changes the code. Run the fixed build from Xcode, or upload a new TestFlight build, and Claude Code checks the same flow again.

Why the Simulator isn’t the last check

The Simulator is right for fast build loops, but it can’t show how your app behaves on a real iPhone.

  • Anthropic’s docs: Claude Code’s iOS Simulator pane drives simulated devices only and can’t control a physical iPhone or iPad.
  • Their workaround: run the app from Xcode yourself, then describe what you see or attach a screenshot.
  • Apple’s docs: simulators “don’t replicate the performance or features of a physical device”. To verify your app, Apple says “run it on one or more physical devices”.
  • With Zeptap connected to Claude Code, Claude Code takes that step itself.

Claude Code’s iOS Simulator vs your iPhone through Zeptap

Zeptap gives Claude Code the one device its iOS Simulator pane can’t drive: your physical iPhone.

Prompts to paste into Claude Code

These prompts work in any local Claude Code session once Zeptap is connected: start with one screen, then hand it a whole flow.

Install the newest TestFlight build, sign up with our test account and tell me every screen where onboarding breaks or gets confusing.

Allow notifications in my app, send a test push from our staging server, tap it on my iPhone and check it opens the right screen.

Take a photo with the camera inside our app, upload it and check it appears in the feed. Note how long each step takes.

Reproduce the bug in issue #42 on my iPhone, find the cause in the repo, fix it and tell me what to check in the next build.

Run sign-up at the largest text size and in Dark Mode, list what clips or overlaps, fix the layouts, then restore my settings.

Walk our checkout on my iPhone SE and iPhone 16 at the same time and list every screen that looks or behaves differently.

What you stay in control of

Claude Code acts on your iPhone only through Zeptap on your Mac, where you watch every tap and can stop it.

  • Nothing to install on the iPhone

    Zeptap works from your Mac.

  • Your passcode never leaves your Mac

It’s stored on your Mac, and Claude Code never sees it.

  • Your screen never touches Zeptap’s servers

Screenshots go only to your Claude Code model provider. Use a test account, as Anthropic advises for the Simulator.

  • You set the stopping points

Tell Claude Code to check with you before purchases or messages to new contacts, and stop it from Zeptap at any time.

Honest limits

  • Zeptap doesn’t build or sign your app; TestFlight or Xcode still does.
  • It isn’t a test framework: no scripted assertions, no CI runs. Keep XCUITest for regression suites.
  • Use Claude Code on the iPhone for the checks you’d otherwise do by hand, like the bug repros and smoke tests on our app testing page.

questions?

The docs go deeper, and they're written for agents to read too.

Can Claude Code test my app on a real iPhone?

Claude Code can test your app on a real iPhone when Zeptap is running on your Mac. It sees your iPhone’s screen and taps, swipes and types in your app, then reports what breaks and fixes the code in your repo.

Does the Claude Code iOS Simulator work with a physical iPhone?

Claude Code’s iOS Simulator pane can’t control a physical iPhone. Anthropic’s docs say the pane drives simulated devices only. Zeptap is how Claude Code reaches the real phone.

How does my build get onto the iPhone?

Your build gets onto the iPhone through TestFlight or Xcode, as usual. With TestFlight, Claude Code can open the TestFlight app, tap Install on the newest build and start testing. Zeptap doesn’t build or sign apps itself.

Do I need Xcode or a paid Apple Developer account?

Zeptap itself needs neither Xcode nor a paid Apple Developer account. To build your app you still use Xcode, and Apple lets you run it on your own iPhone with a personal Apple Account. TestFlight distribution needs Apple Developer Program membership.

Is there a Claude Code iOS app?

Anthropic’s Claude app for iPhone can connect to a Claude Code session on your computer through Remote Control, so you can steer it from your phone. Zeptap works the other way: Claude Code uses your iPhone.

Which Claude Code setups can use my iPhone?

Any local Claude Code session can use your iPhone: in your terminal, VS Code, JetBrains or a local session in the Claude desktop app. Claude Code on the web, cloud sessions and SSH sessions run on other machines, so they can’t reach your Mac.

Where do the screenshots go?

Screenshots go only to the model provider your Claude Code uses (Anthropic, on a Claude plan). Zeptap captures the screen on your Mac and hands it to Claude Code; nothing goes through Zeptap’s servers. Test with a test account, not your personal one.

Which iPhones and Macs work?

Zeptap works with every iPhone on iOS 15 or later, including Home-button models like iPhone SE, with a Mac on macOS 14 or later and a cable.

How much does Zeptap cost?

Zeptap costs $25 a month or $99 once for one iPhone, or $149 once for up to five iPhones, at today’s introductory prices. Your first hour is free, and your Claude plan stays separate. See pricing.
